Description

ADULT BEGINNING 420

SCHEDULE: Mon/Thur or Tues/Fri 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
DURATION: Two weeks
PUBLIC: $365   |  MEMBER: $260

The 420 is a small, responsive two-person sailboat. In this class, sailors will learn everything they need to know to skipper and crew the boat, including rigging, sail theory, boat parts, docking, and right-of-way rules.

Instructors will be available both onshore and on the water to ensure a fun and supportive learning experience.

Students will receive the US Sailing book Learn Sailing Right to reinforce the concepts taught in class. Pairings will be made in class, so there’s no need to sign up with a partner. Children age 12 and older are welcome to register with a parent or guardian.

If a session is missed due to weather or other unforeseen events, the session will be rescheduled from Noon to 3:00 PM on the Saturday following each two-week class.

Note: The 420 requires athleticism, and participants should be prepared to squat, crouch, and step down from a dock to enter the boat. Students may also get their feet and bottoms wet. These boats are designed to capsize and are easily righted. Students will learn how to safely right a capsized boat and continue sailing.
