WHAT’S AN OPTIMIST?
The 8-foot Optimist Pram is a stable and easy-to-handle boat, ideal for beginners. It’s the learning boat of choice for sailing centers worldwide.

WHO ARE OPTIMIST EXPLORERS?
Optimist Explorers is designed for first-time or newer sailors, ages 7-11, looking for a fun and safe introduction to sailing. Sailors will build confidence while sailing with a partner or two. In this Summer Camp environment, they’ll learn the basics of sailing through games and adventures.

The Half-Day class is ideal for younger kids who prefer a shorter camp, while Full-Day sailors are ready for a full, action-packed day, including a one-hour lunch break at the lake.

MORE DETAILS:
We place 2-3 sailors per boat to ensure comfort and safety. Each instructor supervises 8 or fewer sailors.

The class is split into two groups: first-time sailors and returning sailors. When registering, please indicate your sailor's group.

Note that sailing every day is not guaranteed. If conditions are unsafe due to wind or weather, we’ll play games and learn on shore.

WHAT’S NEXT?
Once sailors have mastered the skills taught in Explorers, they are ready to move on to Optimist Cruisers.
