420 INTRO TO RACING
AGES: 12-17
SCHEDULE: One week, Monday through Friday
8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
PUBLIC: $380 | MEMBER: $270WHO ARE INTRO TO RACERS?
Sailors in the 420 Intro to Racing class have completed the 420 Cruisers class or can demonstrate basic boat handling and sailing skills and want to start racing. In this smaller class setting, sailors gain racing experience as skippers and crew.
MORE DETAILS:
This class offers exciting new challenges and prepares sailors for the 420 Race Team. Because the class is smaller, sailors receive more individualized coaching.
Students will learn racing rules, boat handling, sail trim, and basic race strategy and tactics. The focus is on improving boat handling and confidence in various wind conditions.
Sailing every day is not guaranteed. On days with unsafe wind or weather conditions, we will play games and learn onshore.
We encourage sailors to participate in the local Twin Cities Youth Sailing (TCYS) Regattas at local lakes.
WHAT’S NEXT?
After checking off all their Intro to Race skills, Sailors are ready to move on to the Youth 420 Race Team.
