OPTIMIST CRUISERS
AGES: 8 - 11
SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
DURATION: Two Weeks
PUBLIC: 2 weeks - $585 MEMBER: 2 weeks - $410
WHO ARE OPTIMIST CRUISERS?
Optimist Cruisers are sailors 8 -11 who have mastered the Explorer skills and want to move on to more challenging adventures. Sailors will spend the session focusing on upwind sailing adventures and games that build confidence in boat handling. Activities include scavenger hunts, sailing to Bde Maka Ska’s beaches, Sail Cross, and more.MORE SPECIFICS:
Instructors always accompany the sailors on the water in safety boats where they can coach them and ensure their safety.We can place sailors 1-2 per boat but encourage sailors to try solo sailing. Friends are still welcome to sign up together and cruise together.
The activities and adventures change each session to encourage sailors to keep coming back to check off all their cruising skills.
WHAT’S NEXT?
After checking off the Optimist Cruiser skills, sailors interested in racing can move on to the Optimist Race Team. Sailors not interested in racing can keep cruising until they reach 420 Explorer age.
