Description

ADULT BEGINNING 420

SCHEDULE: Monday and Thursday  6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Make-up class, if needed, held on the second Saturday from 9 AM-Noon.
DURATION: Two weeks
PUBLIC: $350     MEMBER: $245

The 420 sailboat is a responsive two-person boat ideal for fast learning. Sailors will learn everything they need to skipper and crew the boat, including rigging, sail theory, boat parts, landing at a dock or buoy, and right-of-way rules.

Instructors provide onshore and on the water to make learning to sail fun and easy.

Students will receive the US Sailing book Learn Sailing Right to reinforce the concepts taught in class.

Students do not need to sign up with a partner. Pairings will be made in class if needed. Children ages 12 and older are welcome to register with their parents or guardians for the class.

Note: The 420 is a boat that requires some athleticism, and participants can expect to squat, crouch, and step down from a dock to enter the boat. Students will also get wet feet and bottoms. These boats are prone to tipping in higher winds. This is common in a small sailing dingy; students will be taught how to safely right a capsized boat.
