420 INTRO TO RACING

AGES: 12-18
SCHEDULE: Mon-Thur  8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
DURATION: One or two weeks
PUBLIC: 1 week - $270 2 weeks - $495  
MEMBER: 1 week - $190 2 weeks - $345 
PREREQUISITES:  420 Explorers or Opti Race Team

The 420 Intro to Racing class is for sailors who have taken the 420 Explorers class or have learned the basics of sailing and would like to start racing. Sailors will gain racing experience as skipper and crew in a smaller class setting.

Emphasis will be on improving boat handling skills and confidence under a variety of wind conditions. This class offers new challenges, an exciting racing experience, and will prepare the sailor for the 420 Race Team. This is a smaller class that includes more individualized coaching.

Sailors will learn the rules of racing, boat handling, sail trim, and basic race strategy and tactics.

We encourage sailors to participate in the local Twin Cities Youth Sailing (TCYS) Regattas held at local lakes.
